Valuation Controller

Your role:
Do you have a strong understanding of valuation concepts across a broad range of cash and derivative financial products? Are you knowledgeable on key accounting & valuation standards like Fair value hierarchy, Prudential Valuation, IFRS and US GAAP fair value policies? We are looking for someone like you to:
?Supervise the monthly Independent Price Verification (?IPV?) processes to ensure positions are marked correctly in the firm?s books and records.
?Enhance governance around IPV, including assisting in writing up procedural / guideline documents, identifying best practices and sharing these globally. Interact with other regional valuation controllers and working to implement best practices from other regions.
?Analyze key valuation drivers and structures, cash waterfalls, pricing models, collateral characteristics, market trends, and technical factors that impact valuation.
?Identify areas with low testing coverage and identify testing alternatives to close this gap.
?Conduct monthly valuation meetings with senior stakeholders.
?Interact with the Business, Finance and Risk to close out gaps in processes / controls. Build and maintain strong relationships with these groups.

Your team:
The role exists within the Valuation Control Group which is part of Group Finance. The function is responsible for the validation of the final reported valuations of trading products & derivatives through a combination of independent price verification (IPV) and reserving techniques. The function is organized vertically by asset class and also has a Valuation Oversight & Consistency team organized horizontally across all asset classes. The VCG team is spread globally with key centers in New Jersey, New York and India.
Your experience and skills:
You have:
? A Masters degree in Finance, Math, Economics, Engineering. CFA / FRM candidacy is a plus.
? A minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial sector.
? Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
?Prior experience in working with the traders, risk groups and management in addressing valuation issues.
? Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg and Intex.
You are:
?Knowledgeable across a range of Securitized Products including Agency and Non-Agency RMBS, CMBS, CLOs, ABS and EU Securitizations.
?Familiar with IFRS 13 and FAS 157.
?Detail oriented, proactive, able to take ownership of issues and work in a dynamic environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
