Valuation Controller - Equities

Your role:
Are you an analytical thinker with a strong interest in valuation? Can you work well within a team to deliver time sensitive and effective solutions? We are looking for someone to:
? Perform Independent price verification ('IPV') processes to ensure the Firm?s positions are marked correctly.
? Execute daily processes to submit the Firm's valuation results to third party consensus providers.
? Review IPV work performed by a team offsite.
? Enhance governance around IPV, assist in writing up procedural documents, identify best practices.
? Participate in the testing of new enhancements to processes and toolsets.
? Undertake in-depth analysis on core product portfolios.
? Maintain strong relationships with the Business (equities), Finance and Risk.
? Support senior Valuation Controllers in several ad-hoc and time-sensitive requests.

Your team:
The role exists within the Valuation Control Group which is part of Group Finance. The function is responsible for the validation of the final reported valuations of trading products & derivatives through a combination of independent price verification (IPV) and reserving techniques. The function is organized vertically by asset class and also has a Valuation Oversight & Consistency team organized horizontally across all asset classes. The VCG team is spread globally with key centers in New Jersey, New York and India.
Your experience and skills:
You have:
? A BS or BA degree (ie mathematics, finance, accounting). quantitative background is a plus.
? A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the financial sector specifically in Equities.
? Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
? Great Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access Skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
